What's Up

We are moving next Friday and life is moving along at its normal frenzied pace. Here's a quick glance at what we've each been up to.
Colin
  • Training for this summer's Olympic speed-crawling event. Still mad that mom and dad won't let him plummet head-first down the stairs.
  • Still smiles all day long. Smiles as he's chewing on electrical outlets, smiles as he's popping the ends of rubber door stops into his mouth, smiles as he's eating bugs off the sidewalk. Thinks "no" is the funniest word in the English language. Until he realizes you're serious. Then he releases The Shriek (see below). He's a very easy 2nd child (almost counts for 1/2 a child) as long as you can manage to keep him alive and you have resilient ear drums.
  • Can't be taken into any public venue because his shrieks have reached the level of noise-pollution. I'm not kidding. Also, instead of using The Shriek to express only excitement/happiness, he now also uses it to express feelings of anger, frustration, annoyance, joy, fatigue, and give-me-food-now-or-you'll-be-sorry.
Ethan
  • Is out of preschool for the summer so I enrolled him in "summer camp" at a local preschool for this week and next week. Comes home exhausted every day and is sound asleep by 7 pm. Love it!
  • Is asking lots of questions about life in general. "Where does Jesus live?" "What's a comet made of?" "Why is Grandpa your dad?" "Why is poop brown-black?" Deep thoughts.

Jason

  • Ten years after graduating from college, 5 years after graduating from med school, and countless evenings, weekends, and holidays later, Jason has just 7 days left of training before we can start paying back the massive amounts of debt we've accumulated. Hooray!
  • Because he just doesn't have enough going on in his life, he also signed up for an Olympic-distance triathlon (in August) and the St. George marathon (in October) and has been training for those in his "spare" time, which means he is out running at 5:30 am or 9:30 pm.
Me
  • Despite the fact that we are only moving 16 miles away, I have still been stressing out over it and very busy with all the pre-moving things I have to keep on top of. I am excited to get settled into our new home, but I had forgotten how much work moving is! I am in the middle of a seemingly endless to-do list of home inspections, new home orientation, utilities to disconnect and set up, address changes, closets and toys and files to organize, etc. etc. etc. Luckily the practice Jason is joining is paying for a moving company to both pack and move us, so I'm not a complete basket case. I'll still be happy when it's over! Pictures to come sometime next weekend as we dig our way out from beneath the boxes.

Kim-

I've been checking your blog since I got the link (a few months ago), but I never commented because I didn't have a gmail email. Now I do so I thought I'd say hi and thanks for letting me know you've seen my blog. I think your kids are adorable, and I love hearing about what you guys are doing. I put up a family picture and a kid picture because I figured that you were one of the people who may have only seen/met my family in passing. Good luck with all the moving.
